At Drive Africa, the original buyback company which was founded in 1997 we have perfected our own monetary scale of working out at what value a car or vehicle would be bought back after a few months of owning it. We refer to this as the write-down which describes the reduction of the recognized value of a car or vehicle over a time span of two or more months.
One could say it is the depreciation or reduction of the value of the car or vehicle on its return to Drive Africa.
It is the devaluation of the car or vehicle on its return, and includes a rental portion for the period it has been used as a buyback which we have coined “Rental Purchase”
We strive to be at least 50% or more cheaper than if you were to rent or hire a car or vehicle.
We apply this write-down calculation which is not based on a percentage to the purchase price that you have paid and deduct the amount according to the number of months that the car or vehicle has been used. Each month has its own write-down figure which varies from model to model and month to month.
The calculation tables remain in-house and are copyrighted.
Using our write-down every Rental Purchase deal has a guaranteed buyback price calculated in advance so that you know what you can expect when you return the vehicle to Drive Africa at the end of your use.
The only factor that can affect the buyback price is if there has been an extension or reduction in the amount of months the vehicle was used for and if any damage was done to the vehicle since taking possession of it.
If early returns are arranged in advance then the buyback amount increases according to our write-down scale and penalties are only applied if the terms and conditions are not met.
